BMCB32: Development Of The My Occupational Safety And Health Committee Application (MyOSHCo App)

PROF DR SITI MUNIRA YASIN Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sungai Buloh Campus

Introduction: Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is crucial for workplace safety and employee well-being, yet poor monitoring, limited access to information, and inefficient reporting systems hinder effective management. To address these issues, MySOSHCo was developed as a digital platform integrating OSH education, incident reporting, ergonomic screening, and access to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).  Methodology: The application was designed as a web-based tool for UiTM Faculty of Medicine, incorporating five main functions: e-training, e-reporting, occupational disease data management, Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WRMSD) screening, and ergonomic assessment. Content was developed using authoritative sources, with iterative refinement based on supervisor and user feedback. Usability testing was conducted among 30 respondents using an 18-item questionnaire across three domains: Ease of Use, Interface and Satisfaction, and Usefulness. Results:The application achieved excellent usability, with an overall score of 6.22 ± 0.14 out of 7.00. Usefulness recorded the highest mean (6.31 ± 0.04), followed by Interface and Satisfaction (6.29 ± 0.07) and Ease of Use (6.03 ± 0.22). Respondents valued improved access to OSH information, though offline accessibility scored lowest (5.30 ± 1.21). Discussion:Findings highlight MySOSHCo’s strengths in usefulness and interface satisfaction, while feedback suggested improvements in offline accessibility, Android compatibility, bilingual language options, data privacy, and expanded assessment features. Conclusion: Overall, MySOSHCo demonstrates strong potential as an integrated OSH platform, supporting safer and healthier workplaces, with future refinement recommended to enhance accessibility and practical relevance.
